Taryn is the founder and director of Day Before the Rainbow. She founded Day Before the
Rainbow in 2011, after working in veterinary hospitals as a technician and at a high kill animal shelter in
South Carolina as a rescue coordinator, and realizing the need for another rescue to help the animals of
Upstate SC and beyond.
She is passionate about rescuing animals, and will go to great lengths to save an animal or
improve their quality of life. From moving turtles to safety from the middle of the road, to raising
thousands of dollars to cover expensive orthopedic surgery on a puppy, to taking in the worst mangy dogs
that anyone has ever seen, she will do her best to make animals' lives better.
Taryn not only believes in being kind to and loving animals, but loving people, and making their
lives better as well—whether by helping with their animals, or by just helping them with life in general.
Her other interests include reading, and taking classes to achieve her certification as an IBCLC
(International Board Certified Lactation Consultant--a medical professional dedicated to helping mothers
breastfeed).
Taryn is married to Rob (who is also a vital part of DBTR) and they have six (human) children.
Taryn is also dog mom to three Chinese crested dogs and a Great Dane.
Rob is one of our transport drivers and general maintenance technician here at Day Before the
Rainbow! He is in charge of making sure the vehicles run smoothly, he cleans our dog crates, he buys
supplies, and generally tries his best to keep things organized! Rob's previous employment as restaurant
manager and business owner certainly help him accomplish these things.
When he is not managing the rescue, he works in construction, grading property to prepare for
buildings and driving large construction equipment.
Rob's other interests include fishing, grilling good food and shopping at Cabela's.
He is married to Taryn—when they met, she asked him if he liked dogs...he said "yes" and the
rest is history! They have six children, and Rob is "cat father" to MasterCat, a former feral cat that lives at
their family home.
